Welcome to Alpha Iota Chi!

Northeast State welcomed more than 130 new members from the fall and spring semesters into its award-winning Alpha Iota Chi chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. The chapter hosted the spring induction ceremony on April 23 at the Blountville campus.

To qualify for membership in Phi Theta Kappa, a student must be enrolled full-time in an associate degree program, have completed at least 12 hours of college-level coursework, and have a minimum 3.5-grade point average.

Welcome to the society by Alpha Iota Chi chapter officers.

These students will be recognized at the College’s spring commencement exercises on May 9. Alpha Iota Chi has received several state and national awards for individual officers and as a chapter. The chapter holds five-star status, the highest level of participation in Phi Theta Kappa activities.

To qualify for membership in Phi Theta Kappa, a student must be enrolled full-time in an associate degree program, have completed at least 12 hours of college-level coursework, and have a minimum 3.5-grade point average. A Phi Theta Kappa chapter extends membership invitations to students meeting these criteria.

The society supports the four hallmarks of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship designed to give members opportunities for personal growth as well as service to others. Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with 1,200 chapters on two-year and community college campuses in all 50 of the United States and four countries.
