Poet Dr. Jesse Graves hosts workshop June 2

The Poetry Society of Tennessee, Northeast Branch will present a poetry workshop by Dr. Jesse Graves in Basler Library at Northeast State on Saturday, June 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Admission is $25.  Click this link to get a registration form.

Dr. Graves teaches writing and literature classes at East Tennessee State University. His first poetry collection, Tennessee Landscape with Blighted Pine, was released in January.  The collection earned Graves the Weatherford Award, presented annually by Berea College and the Appalachian Studies Association.  The Weatherford is awarded to authors in the categories of nonfiction, fiction and poetry who best illuminate the challenges, personalities and unique qualities of the Appalachian South.

He recently served as guest editor for a special issue of The Southern Quarterly on “The Poetry and Prose of Robert Morgan” and as co-editor of The Southern Poetry Anthology Volume VI: Tennessee.
